Q&A with Commercial Supervisor, Sue De Beer
Commercial Supervisor Sue De Beer talks about her job role for Kannad Marine and McMurdo.
Q: What does your role involve?
A: My role is to look after a small admin team to ensure customer orders are processed within the measured time frame correctly and accurately. We make sure orders are despatched on time with the correct hazardous paperwork. In addition we are the front line in terms of customer contact for all queries, so we need to ensure accurate and timely responses.
Q: How does your role integrate within the wider team?
A: I work closely with the Operations team particularly to ensure customer delivery dates are met. I also work closely with the Sales team to ensure all orders are received, processed and despatched as they should be and all requirements are understood.
Q: What’s keeping you busy at the moment?
A: I am currently working on a Lean project to improve our internal communications, ensuring that all departments have up to date information on current orders and any issues.
Q: What previous personal knowledge/ expertise does your role draw on?
A: I previously worked in a Customer Service role, which gave me further insight in to customer satisfaction. This experience stood me in good stead to understand the issues our customer base face.
Q: How long have you worked for Kannad Marine?
A: I joined in November 2006 and started as a temp on the shop floor before moving to work in Despatch. I then joined the Sales Administration team and was made permanent in 2007 before later being promoted to Commercial Supervisor.
Q: What is your favourite motto?
A: ‘Take each day as it comes’
